Planning & Project Management
Enotrac is a reliable partner for the planning of railway construction and conversion projects, from the installation of power supply systems to the on-board electrical equipment of rolling stock. The Enotrac experts can take over both the management of sub-projects and responsibility for the overall project.

Enotrac has decades of extensive experience in the field of vehicle conversions. Thanks to numerous refit projects carried out in-house, the experts know the specific challenges of converting existing vehicles. The specific risks and critical paths on the timeline can thus be managed and taken into account accordingly.
Customers can rely on competent support in the planning and implementation of their refit projects. If desired, Enotrac can reliably take over management of the project.

The construction of railway energy supply systems includes the conceptual design, planning and implementation of all components from the power plant to the vehicle. Enotrac can take over the project management throughout all phases. The Enotrac experts also provide competent support for procurement and engineering projects.
The foundations are laid with the preparation of feasibility studies for power and converter plants. Energy studies are conducted to determine energy consumption, savings potential and optimisation options for the plant. In the concept phase, extensive simulations, the dimensioning of a plant and the creation of circuit concepts take place.
Protection, earthing and return concepts as well as calculations according to the Ordinance on Protection against Non-Ionising Radiation (NISV) guarantee the safe operation of the plant. This includes the competent planning and execution of measurements of all electrical parameters. In addition, Enotrac carry out verification and expert inspection services. Enotrac is a reliable partner in all these areas and provides support in the analysis of complex electrotechnical issues.

An overhead line is the power supply line of the traction unit. The central characteristic of the catenary system is its reliability in operation. This can be ensured through high-quality and well thought-out project planning. Different systems are used depending on the speed, routing and climate, as catenary systems must be adapted to the surroundings. Tunnel routes differ from other routes in this respect; overhead conductor rails are often used instead of contact wires.
As an independent service provider, Enotrac takes over project management and planning in all project phases, and supports clients with construction management and construction control, including construction planning. This includes the development of track feeder and circuit concepts as well as the preparation of planning approval, submission and implementation documents. Verification is carried out in accordance with RTE 27100.
Enotrac’s specialists have broad experience in catenary planning across all systems, both for AC and DC railways as well as for urban mass transit.

The key to successful projects is careful planning. This is Enotrac’s top priority in every area, whether for energy supply systems or for electrical concepts for vehicles. This requires a competent examination of all planning steps.
As an independent company, the Enotrac experts, as test engineers and experts, examine the respective planning status in the course of a project and prepare test reports. This includes checking conformity in accordance with applicable standards and any requirements agreed in the work contract.
Enotrac has comprehensive knowledge of the relevant provisions and regulations and is available to companies as a competent partner in the planning phase.

In the railway sector, approval procedures for construction projects are subject to precisely defined processes and guidelines. These differ, sometimes significantly, depending on the country. Enotrac is particularly familiar with the processes in Switzerland and the UK. However, the specialists are also very familiar with the provision of planning approval procedures in the neighbouring countries of Germany and France.
Enotrac are specialists in everything electrical when it comes to power supply systems. However, in order to successfully conduct or support such approval procedures within a given time frame and with the involvement of all stakeholders, such as the relevant authorities, technical excellence is not the only requirement. Strong project management skills are also essential. For large-scale projects in particular, close collaboration with other specialist departments is essential, such as the civil engineering and safety systems departments.
The goal of the Enotrac experts is to complete all projects with as few conditions as possible imposed by the approving authorities. The decisive factors for this are clearly structured planning documents of the highest quality and strict adherence to the required procedures.
