The RAM calculation tool utilizes graph theory to compute the availability of each sink within a network based on the sources and edges (equipment) taking into account the MTTF and MDT of each source and edge in the network.

The calculation of availability can be used for the optimisation complex, meshed networks as well as for the demonstrating sufficient availability.

The RAM calculation tool is primarily used when the standard formulas for calculating availability for series and parallel circuits cannot be used due to the meshing.

In a meshed network, each network node is connected to one or more others. The network is connected, meaning there is a path from any node to any other node.

How our Theseus got its name

When you hear the name ‘Theseus’, you immediately think of the legendary hero of Greek mythology, known for his courage, wisdom and heroic deeds. But how does this mythological name fit a modern tool? The answer lies in the story of Theseus himself, a story of challenges, discoveries and the ability to find the right path even in complex situations. Let us tell you the story of Theseus and explain how it served as inspiration for the name of our calculation tool.

Theseus and the battle against the Minotaur

When the envoys of the Cretan King Minos came to Athens for the third time to collect the tribute of seven youths and seven maidens from Athens, the citizens were outraged and Aegeus was distressed. Theseus volunteered and promised to put an end to this injustice, although his father Aegeus had objections. On the sixth day of the month of Munychion, they set sail with black sails. If Theseus succeeded in bringing the youths back safely, he intended to set white sails on their return.

After arriving inCrete, Ariadne, the daughter of King Minos, fell in love with Theseus and therefore helped him. She gave him a thread with which he could him find his way out of the labyrinth again by attaching it to the entrance and unwinding it. He managedto kill the Minotaur and, with the help of the thread, return to the exit.

Now that the fascinating story of Theseus is known, it becomes clear why this name fits the software so well. Just like the mythological hero who mastered challenges and found the right path, our tool is designed to help you navigate the right path through complex tasks.
