Challenges
Numerous variants and large mechanical tolerances of up to 4 cm must be considered in the design. Further challenges include vehicle recertification, which for internationally operating vehicles must be carried out in accordance with the 4th EU Railway Package, as well as the coordination of numerous stakeholders (vehicle owner and operator SBB, door system supplier IFE, subcontractor for mechanical construction, authorities ERA and BAV, etc.).
Our contribution
In this project, Enotrac was responsible as a subcontractor of IFE for integration engineering and vehicle certification.
For the certification of the converted vehicles, Enotrac created the required concepts and proof documents and coordinated the certification process with all involved parties. The certification process for internationally operating vehicles was carried out – for the first time for the vehicle operator SBB – in accordance with the requirements of the 4th EU Railway Package.
The scope of tasks in engineering included: integration of the new door systems into the existing vehicles, definition of the interfaces on the vehicle, design of the new control panels, creation of production and procurement documents, documentation of the changes to be implemented on the vehicle (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic), development of conversion instructions, support of the conversion and execution of installation checks, specification and execution of type tests, provision of calculations and evidence for certification.
