About the project

After the modernisation of the propulsion system of the Re 460 based on a new IGBT traction converter, it was found that the impact on various subsystems was greater than expected, leading to operational problems which affected customers.

As the reliability of the Re 460 is critical for SBB’s long-distance transport, it must be further improved. Enotrac supported the responsible traction system engineer with complex analyses and problems and ensured that expertise in the topic was maintained and expanded.

Our contribution

Enotrac supported SBB in optimising the overall vehicle control and train protection systems as part of the operational deployment. Findings from everyday operations were analysed and processed, and adjustments were periodically implemented on the vehicle.

Various specialist departments had to be coordinated for this purpose. All requirements were aggregated and Enotrac supported the implementations in each case.

Validation tests were also carried out by Enotrac, and the successful implementation was documented accordingly.

The system interrelationships require an in-depth understanding of the subsystems involved in order to be able to analyse the interdependencies and feedback effects. With their high level of problem-solving expertise, the Enotrac experts were able to support SBB in ensuring safe and reliable operation.
