About the project

Bernmobil and the Canton of Bern are planning an important step in the expansion of the existing tram infrastructure. Firstly, the existing tram line 9 will be extended to the new BLS S-Bahn stop in Kleinwabern. A new end loop will be built in Kleinwabern, which in combination with an S-Bahn stop will form a new public transport node.

At the same time, Seftigenstrasse will be redesigned and rebuilt. The aim is to improve conditions for non-motorised traffic. This will affects the existing tram tracks and the overhead line system. In addition, the scenery and existing infrastructure (parking spaces, access roads, etc.) must be taken into account when placing the catenary support structures.

Our contribution

Enotrac supported Bernmobil and the Canton of Bern in the planning of this important transport infrastructure project. First of all, a construction phase plan had to be drawn up. The necessary temporary construction structures were then identified and planned for the different phases of the project.

The planning of the tram catenary included both new construction works and reconstruction of the existing system. Technical solutions had to be developed for combined supporting structures (overhead contact line, traffic lights, lighting).

Enotrac’s key contribution to the preparation of the construction project was the coordination of all involved parties in order to plan the project as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. The Enotrac experts also prepared an overall cost estimate. They were thus able to significantly and competently support the responsible authorities and Bernmobil in the preparation of the building permit dossier for the “Tram Kleinwabern”.
