Requirements analysis and system definition
At the beginning of the development process, a comprehensive requirements analysis is carried out. This includes consolidating stakeholder expectations, taking into account applicable standards (e.g. EN 50126, EN 50716, EN 50129) and analysing existing system architectures. The system boundaries are defined, relevant interfaces are identified, and operating modes and environmental conditions are specified. This information forms the basis for the structured derivation of technical requirements.
Specification of functional and non-functional requirements
The functional requirements describe the system functions to be fulfilled, taking into account the operating requirements and technical conditions. In addition, non-functional requirements are formulated, which concern aspects such as availability, maintainability, environmental compatibility and performance. The specifications are documented in a comprehensible, modular structure and serve as a reference for the subsequent development phases.
Safety requirements and risk management
As part of the safety assessment, a systematic risk analysis is carried out, for example using HAZOP or FMEA. The aim is to identify potential hazards and derive appropriate safety measures. Safety functions are specified and assigned a corresponding Safety Integrity Level (SIL) in accordance with the requirements for functional safety. The safety requirements are documented in a dedicated safety requirements specification, which serves as the basis for validation and subsequent approval.
Verification, validation and traceability
The developed requirements are checked for consistency, completeness and testability. Enotrac uses established methods of verification and validation for this purpose, supplemented by the use of requirements management tools to ensure traceability. Complete documentation enables transparent tracking from the requirement through implementation to testing and approval.
Through the structured development of specifications and safety requirements, Enotrac creates a robust basis for the technical implementation, quality assurance and regulatory approval of complex systems. The methodical approach ensures a high degree of traceability, reduces development risks and supports our customers in the realisation of safe and reliable solutions.
