The Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGBahn) is modernising its traction power systems to ensure long-term operational safety and maintainability. A key component of these measures is the conversion of a total of eleven signal boxes whose existing components no longer meet current technical standards. Enotrac took on the project planning and construction supervision for the implementation in accordance with current regulations.
About the project
Depending on the year of construction, Gardy SA drives are installed in the signal boxes throughout the MGBahn network. These components are no longer manufactured and are not compatible with today’s systems. In order to ensure operational safety and spare parts availability in the long term, the conversion of eleven signal boxes was planned and implemented. The new systems comply with the current MGBahn standard and enable reliable and future-proof control of the traction power supply.
Our contribution
Enotrac was responsible for the technical planning and construction supervision of the conversion as part of this project. The services included analysing the existing systems, planning the new equipment and ensuring compliance with the applicable standards and MGBahn’s internal standards. During the execution phase, Enotrac supervised the implementation on site and ensured that the new signal boxes were professionally installed and commissioned. Close cooperation with MGBahn and the contractor enabled efficient implementation and smooth integration of the new systems into ongoing operations.
