About the project

The 15kV switching station of BLS Netz AG at the Spiez railway junction had reached the end of its service life and needed to be completely renovated. Similarly, the emergency power supply capability of the traction power supply in the event of a switching station failure was not guaranteed and had to be ensured by making various adjustments to the catenary sectioning.

The measures in the switchgear included the construction of new primary technology (switchgear with LTD testing equipment, cable system), secondary technology, catenary protection, electrical self-supply, and various building technology adjustments.

The catenary system and the switching stations were converted to a new power supply concept with decentralised switches, which ensures emergency power supply in the event of a fault and increases operational availability.

Our contribution

Our Enotrac team took on the role of external overall project manager during the project planning and execution phase and coordinated all planning and execution work.

This included, among other things:

  • Technical and commercial responsibility for the entire project.
  • Management and coordination of BLS internal departments as well as external planners and contractors.
  • Preparing the approval dossier for the FOT and liaising with the relevant authorities.
  • Developing and implementing various procurement measures for works and services.
  • Planning and organising operational measures and ensuring compliance with safety measures.
  • Acting as senior site manager during the implementation phase.
  • Carrying out and supervising test operations and commissioning.
  • Acceptance and functional tests.
