Ferrovie Autolinee Regionali Ticinesi (FART) is modernising its fleet on the Locarno–Domodossola line with new, more powerful trains. To ensure their optimal operation, the Centovalli Railway’s power supply had to be upgraded. Enotrac developed a comprehensive solution for this challenge—based on network calculations using Fabel—and oversaw its implementation.
About the project
The Centovallina, in service since 1924, is one of the most spectacular railway lines in Europe. For this unique route, new vehicles and new rectifier installations have been procured to ensure reliable operation into the future.
The staggered renewal of the technical installations posed significant challenges in planning and execution, as train services had to continue running according to schedule throughout the refurbishment work. However, any extended work in the track area was carried out exclusively during the night, when there was no train service, to ensure safety.
Our contribution
Enotrac is responsible for developing the load study and planning the new rectifier installations across all project phases. This included the time-intensive coordination of the work carried out by all the executing companies across the various contracts. Among Enotrac’s central tasks were the preparation of the dossier for the required planning approvals, the drafting of tender documents for both the procurement of the installations and the contracting of the executing companies, the planning of the execution stages, and the coordination of the various project partners.
