Facing an increasing number of incidents SBB’s Infrastructure Division had been worried about deficient organisational structures and a lack of safety on their construction sites. Therefore, the management board of SBB-I mandated an independent team of assessors led by ENOTRAC to investigate the status of site organisation and safety and to define measures for improvement.
zb Zentralbahn AG was facing organisational changes in their maintenance workshops when starting the procurement process for new rolling stock. In order to actively meet the changing demands of their maintenance activities in due time zb asked ENOTRAC to analyse training requirements of their maintenance staff in both quantitative and qualitative ways and to propose a staff development concept.
ENOTRAC was mandated by SBB to support two rolling stock refurbishment projects. One of the projects focused on the replacement of existing door drives of the type EW IV passenger coaches in order to improve safety and reliability while the other one included the replacement of kitchen apparatus in several types of dining cars.
The Swiss Federal Office of Transport (Bundesamt für Verkehr, BAV) is in charge of the management of a national rolling stock register in Switzerland. This safety relevant online database directory provides Swiss owners of rolling stock with un-restricted EU market access and serves as an instrument to gain the operating license regulating the responsibility for the maintenance of vehicles.
As part of the replacement of the old control electronics for the air conditioning of the type EW IV passenger car with a new control system from the MAS family (Selectron), ENOTRAC developed software for a PC service tool.
Transports Martigny et Region (TMR) is operating electric Domino commuter vehicles with automatic couplers. ENOTRAC was commissioned to conduct training of TMR maintenance staff (1st level support).
In 2012, new standards were developed, and since July 1, 2012, the new Swiss Railways Decree (EBV) and its rules for execution rules (AB-EBV) have become effective. From this point in time various EU standards have been referenced in the law. The new standards had to be implemented and applied by SBB’s Energy Division to all new construction and refurbishment projects.
